Why GPT12-X Ultra Matters
In cold-chain and high-value logistics, alarms alone are not enough. You need verifiable
proof of what happened, when it happened, and where it happened. GPT12-X Ultra uses
eDRX event-based wake, GNSS and cellular connectivity to record door cracks, temperature
drifts and motion events as hardware-backed evidence.
Built for Multi-Year, Zero-Charge Asset Tracking
GPT12-X Ultra combines Nordic nRF9161 SiP, LTE-M / NB-IoT and advanced eDRX / PSM
power management to deliver long-life tracking for unpowered assets such as
containers, pallets, trailers, returnable assets and heavy equipment.
Nordic nRF9161 SiP Inside
Single SiP integrating LTE-M / NB-IoT modem, GNSS, MCU and security.
Lowers power and PCB size while ensuring robust connectivity for
global IoT deployments.
eDRX Low-Power Standby + Fast Wake
Device sleeps most of the time in PSM while listening via eDRX.
It can wake in seconds on SMS, motion or light events to upload
location and status when it really matters.
5000 mAh Primary Li-MnO2 Battery
Sealed, non-rechargeable 5000 mAh lithium-manganese cell optimized
for long standby and very low self-discharge. Real-world deployments can
reach multi-year life with daily or low-duty reporting profiles.
Multi-GNSS + LBS Positioning
GPS, BDS and GLONASS deliver outdoor accuracy at meter level in open sky.
When GNSS is degraded, the device can fall back to cell-ID based LBS for
coarse location.
Motion & Light Sensor Intelligence
3-axis accelerometer detects movement, vibration and impacts; the light
sensor detects enclosure removal or door-open events. Both can wake the
device and generate alerts to your platform.
Slim, Easy-to-Hide Form Factor
At about 12.5 mm thickness and ~80 g weight (with battery),
GPT12-X Ultra installs inside crates, under trailers, on pallets or
inside machinery without drawing attention or requiring structural change.
Battery Life Estimator & Smart Modes
Primary lithium plus deep-sleep architecture enable extended deployments.
By switching operating modes remotely you can optimize power consumption
for each phase in the asset lifecycle.
Operating Modes Summary
- Standby: Wakes on schedule (default once per day, configurable) then returns to sleep.
- Trip: Wakes on motion; reports at departure and arrival events.
- Activity: Continuous reporting while moving; sleeps when idle.
- Emergency: High-frequency live reporting for theft recovery or crises.
- Smart Wake: Remote SMS / Light sensor / Button / Motion triggers can bring the device online when needed.
Battery Life Snapshot
Example profile: 1 report per day in Long Standby Mode with no emergency hours.
Adjust reports-per-day and emergency hours to trade between runtime and
visibility. EELINK can help you tune profiles for your real deployments.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions about GPT12-X Ultra deployment, battery life,
connectivity, installation and integration.
What is the actual battery life?
GPT12-X Ultra is designed as a multi-year tracker. In typical deployments with one location report
per day on LTE-M / NB-IoT, you can plan for around 3 years of battery life. In ultra-low-frequency
profiles and optimized networks, deployments can reach roughly 4–5 years. Actual life varies with
reporting interval, use of emergency tracking, network quality and ambient temperature.
Can I extend battery life?
Yes. To maximize battery life:
- Use low-frequency reporting where possible (for example, one report every 24–48 hours).
- Reserve Emergency or real-time modes for short incidents instead of continuous use.
- Use standby or deep-sleep profiles when assets are idle for long periods.
- Rely on motion-triggered wake so the device reports mainly when the asset actually moves.
Is the battery replaceable?
The internal primary lithium battery is not user-replaceable. GPT12-X Ultra uses a sealed IP-rated
enclosure and non-rechargeable lithium-manganese chemistry to achieve multi-year life, very low
self-discharge, and robust environmental protection. At end-of-life, plan to replace the unit or
use EELINK’s repair / refurbishment services according to your contract.
Can the tracker be woken up remotely?
Yes. Thanks to the Nordic nRF9161’s eDRX and PSM capabilities, GPT12-X Ultra can listen for
network pages even while sleeping. An authorized SMS or downlink command can wake the device,
request an immediate location, or switch the operating mode to a higher-frequency emergency profile.
Which cellular networks does GPT12-X Ultra support?
GPT12-X Ultra uses LTE Cat M1 (LTE-M) and NB-IoT (NB2) for wide-area connectivity. The radio covers
commonly used IoT bands such as B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B8, B12, B13, B14, B17, B18, B19, B20, B25, B26,
B28 and B66, enabling deployments across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and many other regions.
There is no 2G / 3G fallback, so LTE-M or NB-IoT coverage is required for live reporting.
What positioning technologies are supported?
GPT12-X Ultra uses multi-constellation GNSS — GPS, BeiDou, GLONASS, Galileo and QZSS — plus
cellular LBS as a backup when GNSS is unavailable. In good sky-view conditions GNSS accuracy is
typically within a few meters, while LBS provides coarse positioning (on the order of 100–200 m)
in dense urban or indoor environments.
Can GPT12-X Ultra be used globally?
The supported LTE-M / NB-IoT bands are designed for global deployments, but real-world availability
depends on local operators and roaming agreements. Before large-scale rollout, check coverage maps
for your SIM provider, run a small pilot in each region, and confirm that at least one LTE-M or
NB-IoT network is available at your key sites and corridors.
Does GPT12-X Ultra require wiring or an external power supply?
No. GPT12-X Ultra is a self-contained, battery-powered tracker. There is no need to connect to
vehicle power or run cables. Once the SIM or eSIM is provisioned and the device is activated,
installation is simply about physically mounting it in the right place on your asset.
Where should I place the tracker on a vehicle or asset?
For reliable GNSS performance, mount the face marked “towards sky” upward with as clear a view of
the sky as possible. Avoid placing the device directly under thick metal, heater film or
metallic-coated glass. On vehicles, typical locations include under dashboards with plastic covers,
inside body cavities with plastic or fiberglass panels, or on cargo surfaces where the top side
has sky view.
How can I verify that an installation is working?
After mounting, take the asset outdoors, wait for the device to obtain a GNSS fix, and confirm that
it appears on your tracking platform with the correct location. Trigger a short movement or
power-on event to verify that alerts and history records arrive as expected before closing panels
or handing the asset over to operations.
Which platforms and apps work with GPT12-X Ultra?
GPT12-X Ultra is fully compatible with EELINK’s Keelin web platform and mobile apps for real-time
tracking, history playback, geofencing and alert management. Many customers use Keelin as a
turnkey solution, while integrators connect the device directly to their own servers using
documented EELINK protocols.
Can we integrate GPT12-X Ultra with our existing TMS, WMS or ERP?
Yes. EELINK provides open device protocols and server-side APIs so your developers can ingest
location and event data into your own applications. Typical integrations use a TCP / UDP listener
that parses EELINK binary messages and then exposes them via REST APIs, message queues, or webhooks
inside your backend. Protocol documentation, sample payloads and reference code are available
on request.
Does GPT12-X Ultra support remote configuration and firmware updates?
Yes. Devices in the GPT12-X family support over-the-air firmware upgrades and remote parameter
changes, such as reporting intervals, working modes and alarm thresholds. This lets you refine
behavior after deployment without recalling hardware — just remember to leave some battery budget
for occasional FOTA sessions in your lifetime planning.
